French Exchange
For our students in grade seven to twelve we offer a French exchange program to sharpen their skills. The students who participate, host a student from France for three weeks at which time the French student attends MVA. Then in turn, our students stay as a guest with their corresponding families, while attending their school in France for three weeks.
The Ombrosa - Canada Exchange for 2009
Ombrosa is a multilingual private school in Lyon, France. Visits to Canada and to France are arranged for students, ages 11-17. During this time they participate in the daily activities of their counterparts. We like them to be fully involved in their host’s family life including going to school as regular students subject to the usual rules, lessons, discipline, and where appropriate, homework!
The students from Lyon, France would be here for a maximum of three weeks, and a teacher from Ombrosa always stays in the same city to maintain contact with everyone involved and to deal with any problems that may arise. Likewise, children from Mountain View Academy are supervised by one of our administrators on their three week learning venture.
Families with a child(ren) interested in hosting a French student or sending their child to France, are asked to complete a detailed questionnaire that is available from the school office, or your French teacher. (You do not need to speak French to host a student) Completed questionnaires should be returned to your school as soon as possible, or faxed/emailed to the Calgary Exchange Coordinator, Jitka Smuszko.
We hope you will consider taking part in this worthwhile endeavour and we welcome you as participants and hosts for 2009.
